For its part, Activision was looking to expand outside its usual shooter and platforming wheelhouse, and working with a premiere Japanese developer like From presented the chance to do exactly that. The studio was in talks with various companies about the project. “Activision actually showed the most keen interest in the project proposal,” says Yasuhiro Kitao, From Software’s manager of marketing and communications. ![]() When From first began working on Sekiro, the leadership group didn’t have a particular publisher in mind. But as with Sekiro itself, which aims to distinguish itself among From Software games, the deal between From and Activision breaks new ground for both companies. ![]() Before, From Software tended to work almost exclusively with Japanese publishers, and hadn’t worked with an American company to release their games since 2009’s Ninja Blade (published by Microsoft), opting instead to work with publishers like Bandai Namco, Sony, and Capcom. Nothing right now. When it was first revealed at last year's E3, one of the biggest surprises about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was its publisher: Activision. Sales and demand will be the driving force behind that. It will be $3 (3€) at the beginning of the early access, and it will increase at each major update until it's release at $12 (with all solo content and multiplayer).ģ0% of solo content done, and no multiplayer yet And as i don't want to make empty promises I did not add it as a game feature in steam, nor in the game description (only in the early access planned content)." "I have planned to develop the multiplayer, but it's not done yet. Digging is not the core of the game, it's building strong defenses You don't spend hours diging awfully slowly, it's quite fast even at the start of the game (and even faster later). You can build a gigantic dam and then flood all the map if you like, and the game will not lag. No flying clowns or bizarre things like that, only coherent Sci-Fi weapons & useful items. The ranged weapons gameplay feelings are really the priority here. Real Science-Fiction: no swords, medieval stuff or flying clowns here, only laser weapons and modern things like that. Well, at least until the enemy crushes it :-) And they are intelligent, they'll try to attack your defenses at their weakest points. If you build a concrete block, that will stop any enemy. Monsters behavior: no monster will be able to teleport, or move "in the background", or do magical things like that. That may be dangerous when you go underground, but with a little digging you will be able to use it to improve your defenses or irrigate your crop (crops to be coming during early access :-)). I developed an innovative simulation of water, with rain, runoff, infiltration, trickle, undergrounds rivers and lakes and more. No "sky bridge" here! And you'll have to build large bridges and high towers to access some remote locations and retrieve some rare minerals or items. It's a bit like the bridge constructions games, not as precise but it's working good enough. Physics for buildings: the buildings have a weight and if they are not built strong enough (or if attacked by monsters) they will collapse. So you can spend more time exploring and building your defenses. The digging process is much faster than in Terraria/Starbound, from the start. It's really at the core of the gameplay : during the day you explore the world in order to find ores & ingredients to improve your defenses for the night. As in a tower defense game, massive waves of monsters attack each night. The game is maybe more like a tower defense game than like terraria (the main difficulty is to survive each night thanks to turrets & defenses the day you explore the world in order to craft thoses defenses).įirst, in Dig or Die your main objective is to build a strong base with heavy defenses (turrets, walls, auto-repair machines, etc.). Just some general information that keeps being asked.
